Finding Purpose in the Seasons of Life

Where do we Stand?

I have battled with this message for months to pen it down, and after I did, it took me days and well over a week before I finally got the boldness to post it today. I thought it might hurt some people or I may get misunderstood. But that’s fine because I believe this is the right time to bring it up with so much happening in our world.

Now, I know why this was a convicting message in my heart for months. And after crashing into Ezekiel 33:6 last week, it just confirms that this is a message for this season. So I am trying to stand as a Watchman but also watching my life because I am not yet where God wants me to be in my relationship with Him. I fell so many times and cry so hard asking that He keeps me in His will because I don’t want to be the Watchman that will just focus on reminding and warning people when my own life is a mess.

As the days go by and the end draws near, we are getting more watered down in our messages, faith, lifestyle and walk with God. No one tends to be thinking of the END. Everyone is doing what they want and feel like doing. No one bothers about what God wants, expects, what His heart is saying or even realise that Jesus is coming back soon.

Most of us are afraid of what people will say or how they’ll react if you decide to stand for God, but no one cares what God will say. People will always have something to say. Over 2,000 years ago of history proofs that when Jesus walked the earth. So what are we afraid of anyway? Frightened that we will get stigmatised, criticised, called names, isolated or tagged? If we just take the focus off ourselves, then we won’t be bothered by what people think or say. It’s not about us but Him in us.

We are becoming more insensitive in our faith walk each day including myself. I don’t understand where we are heading in this race. Most of the things we do does not emulate Jesus. We dress the way we want and go to the places we feel like going and listen to the same songs that are contrary to praising and lifting the name of Jesus. And then we wonder why people are rejecting our salvation messages. I’ll tell you why, because we are no different to them. They don’t see any reason or difference why our words and testimonies should get them off their tracks and into our race course. Nothing for them to envy in us.
We dress like them, talk the same language and laugh at the same jokes, go to the same places they go even when we are convicted not to do or go that way. Most of us have gotten so hooked up in this circle that we have lost our conviction. We don’t get convicted anymore of anything. Our ears have finally built protective deafening wax to The Gentle Voice of The Holy Spirit. The sad thing is that we don’t even know it, or should I say we know but can’t be bothered.

Where are the Daniels of this day to live an exemplary life for the next generation? We have too much noise, hype and vibes but no foundation. If we are faithful and deeply rooted in Christ Jesus who is our foundation, then people will see the difference.
Has anyone stopped to ask where we are going? We got a whole generation coming after us and what we are modelling for them is that ‘it’s okay’ to act, live and behave in such ways in our walk with God because He understands. No, no, no! That is a BIG ERROR from our end. I wish I knew all these things during my teenage and youthful days because I’ve made some dumb mistakes myself thinking I was living according to the 21st Century adventure. But I was just living a reckless life without Jesus and with no urgency of time and The Lord’s Return.

I am here to remind us especially the youth and millennial age, that our lifestyle and walk with God is far more significant, enriching and rewarding than what the world has to offer. I envy the days of Smith Wigglesworth, Kathryn Kuhlman, Billy Graham, Charles and Frances Hunter, C.S Lewis and A.W Tozer. Indeed they understood what living for Christ is and how to be an example even under pressure and criticism. If they have been talking about the end times all during their time, then I reckon we are at the edge of the end. At the very tipping point. But we are still living like we got the whole world and time in our hands.

Let’s wake up from our sleep and slumber; the end is at hand. I leave you with this scripture. Revelations 3:3 ‘Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.’

Where do you Stand?

  2. So true Catherine, we must be about our Father’s business (Kindgom business). We must determine to make His Word First and Final authority in every situation (more especially the challenging Situations). Whenever a tough situation arises, we as His children/Heirs, should go to his word/Bible and see what His Word says about it and say what the word says about the situation and in faith act on that word. If we draw on His Grace available to help us navigate through this world’s systems, we can be victorious each and every time.
In the words of Sister Gloria Copeland, “As we begin to spend time with the Lord, we begin to think like he thinks. We begin to act like he acts. We begin to hear from heaven moment by moment so that we can walk out the perfect will of God for our lives every day.
Our goal is to become so in tune with Him that when He tells us to do something, we hear Him and obey. Our aim is to be so closely joined to Him that the desires of our hearts, the thoughts of our minds, the words of our mouths and our every action become reflections of the One with whom we are united.”
